Jah Man and more.

Somehow Brian convinced me to climb Jah Man, a 400ft desert tower (5'10c). The approach was steep and hot, but the climb itself was perfect and breezy. It felt really hard to me, but we made it up (and down, thank goodness). It was actually really awesome and we weren't even too hot.

For our six month anniversary Bry made me dinner-- grilled hamburger bagels and corn BTW: check out the beautiful desert flowers.

A week ago, Bry and I biked slickrock. I had done it once before and Brian had done half of it. This time we did the whole thing and lounged in the potholes for a while to cool down. Sweet ride.

This was the sunset outside of our house the other night-- AMAZING!

Highlights and lowlights

No, this isn't a post on hair color.

Highlights of our MAY 2008 (not in order of importance:

1) Getting our garden planted. Three beautiful rows of sand and composted cow manure that in 62 days or less are going to provide us with a bounty of squash, beans, carrots and tomatoes. . .not to mention smirks for all those NPS skeptics who live up here.

2)FRIENDS! We had company every week we've been here so far. . . thanks to Pete, Mary, Jo, Porter, Marcus, Alvin, Laura, Jens, Aron etc.

3)Climbing. Our summit of Castleton, Owl Rock, Bry's first 5'11d lead, my first lead (5'8 trad route in Indian Creek), and our discovery of Maverick Buttress-- the most beautiful place to climb in all of Moab.

4)Our return to corn tortillas.

5)Hammocks under the cottonwoods and Sunday phone calls.

6)Not having a TV. . . we've actually never had one, but this month we haven't seen so much as a commerical! And I didn't even notice until today. Who ever said living in the boondocks was boring?

7)Getting paid to bike on the white rim for three days.

Lowlights

1)The Jeep's falter (thank goodness it was a quick return).

3)A constant chapped throat.
