Mountainous in more ways than one.

For the ladies in my life: this is me at 27 weeks. It was taken over a week ago, but I'm about the same size. My belly button looks like a volcano (the rim is sticking up) and I think it's about to explode here in a few days. I had my third doc apt this week and I'm even more convinced at how unnecessary it is. . . but maybe I'll save that for another post. Brian is a champ lately- he's almost done with "Husband Coached Childbirth" and is gearing up for the big game this fall.

For my patrol last week I hiked to the Lower Saddle with Brian (in between the Middle and Grand Tetons). I hiked down that same day but he stayed for three days of work. This is looking at Nez Perce on the way up:

Here is Brian in front of the hut. The summit of the Grand in on the right behind him; it is a bit deceiving but it's 2,000 ft higher than where we are. The pink tent behind him helps with perspective some. There was another rescue while he was up there-- a pretty shattered tib/fib; they helicoptered her off.
Monkey flower.
Me hiking up-- check out the volcanic dike in the middle Teton (the dark stripe). This hike was 5000ft elevation gain and 15 miles. I don't think I'll be able to do anything like this again for a while. I feel like I'm gaining new insight into the words "lumbering" "waddling" and "massive." Hauling 20 extra lbs around it a doozy!

Summer ended today. September greeted us with freezing temps, rain in the valley and snow on the peaks. The leaves are already starting to turn yellow and the air is crisp.

Yeah, I LOVE belly pictures!! You look awesome, Ang. So cute! Give that little Hays lady a kiss for me, right on that volcanic navel! And Brian's looking mighty nice himself, especially once I realize he's soon to be an expert in spouse-directed childbirth. That should be something he could add to his resume, right? And by the way, I'll be curious to hear what adjectives you describe yourself with in another 10 weeks (especially if you are mountainous now). It only gets better :)

I have to agree: you look great. Thanks for solving the my flower mystery. I was wondering last week what that pretty purple flower was in the meadows. I am glad I ran into you. It was great to chat with you!

Ang. I have just decided that you are one of the cutest pregnant people ever. I can't wait to see you! And not just because you're cute!

I LOVE the belly pic! FINALLY!!!! I can't decide if I love the first one of you in the purple shirt or the bottom one of you in your ranger clothes. Both equally AWESOME! You care such a hott pregnant lady. I'm wondering what this 'coaching'that Brian has completed entails. This might merit a separate blog post as well.
