This marks the 7 year anniversary of leaving on my mission. I realized I've never really mentioned this significant part of my life on my blog before. Both Brian and I served missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints before we met. Both of us were called to the jungle: I was in Los Angeles, California, and Brian was in Fiji, South Pacific. Our missions were some of the best experiences of our lives. We fell in love with people from all over the world, strengthened our faith, learned new languages (me: Spanish, b: Fijian) and served others.

While we are Christians and the church is called the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we're frequently called Mormon's because in addition to the Bible we read The Book of Mormon (the spiritual history of the ancient Americans-- like the Bible is the spiritual history of the people in the Middle East). The church has been in the media a ton lately and we wanted to clarify our own reasons for following our faith. To find out why (in Brian's words), click HERE. Mine hasn't been posted yet.

I love how these pictures show how you and Brian each just jumped into a new culture and loved it.
Also--you look like your sister, Emily,in the photo with the mariachi guys. Nice resemblance.
Those are some RIDICULOUS pictures. So cool!! You look pretty much the same, but Brian looks like he's 12. Did we really leave 7 years ago? That's blowing my mind.
Great post and awesome pictures! If you can serve a fulltime mission you can do anything! Serving a mission is probably one of the most unselfish and demanding things one could do but also one of the most fullfilling. Brian it was great to see your profile on Mormon.org and read about your spiritual journey and how you gained a testimony of your own. Thanks for sharing!
