Last Sunday was an inside day. It snowed the entire day a wet, heavy snow. It stuck initially (4 inches in the morning) but in the afternoon it was just sort of soggy and still coming down. We did manage to get out for a walk and L got to eat some snow, but we were wet wet wet by the end of 20 minutes.
So we mostly hung out in our puffies and read books.
But the entire rest of the week was sunshine with spurts of rain showers and 70 degree temps. Brian and I headed up to Ribbon Falls on Teewinot after work one day last week. A grizzly mom and 3 cubs (now yearlings and as big as mom) have made Lupine Meadows their new home for the time being. Haven't seen them yet (although I would love to in the car) and I'm really hoping I don't cross their path on the way to laundry. . .
Brian climbed a few days this week, did some helicopter training and came home antsy for more of the mountains. I'm feeling the same way these days! Nothing like staring at these peaks all day that makes you want to be up in them.
Rode the boat over to Cascade Canyon this week. Liesel learned the word Marmot and Chipmunk and laughed SO HARD at me jumping around running from the chipmunk as he was trying to steal our lunch. I kept having visions of the chewed up hand from the signs at Zion Nat'l Park warning you not to feed the squirrels. Either way, L thought it was great. On Friday, B climbed Caveat in Death Canyon, so I hiked up in the afternoon and met he and Drew on the way out after their climb. Liesel walked about a 1/2 mile on the trail by herself and pointed out pine cones, butterflies, the lake and flowers. That's her curly little mop heading down the trail in the top left.
